It is a simple piece of equipment whereby media (usually carbon or phosphate remover) is placed inside and water is allowed to pass through it so that the media is kept in suspension.

This increases the surface area where the media reacts with the water and thus improving the media's efficiency

Yes, yr friend say is correct. For my resun FR, I ever use a small pump. 200L/Hr sicce and it works. Some uses up to 600L/Hr pump with no problem.

For me, I start off with just the surface media moving but as time goes on, I increase the flow up to the point where all the media is suspended.
