dunno whether some of the reefers here experience star polyp not opening after sometime .

one of my star polyps rocks just one fine day decide not to open anymore . some of the changes i have make is stop dosig DT and change it to marine snow .

after observing that it had not open for 2 days , i was really panicking . and heard that if it does not open for too long , it wil die of hunger .

anyway i dose seachem reef plus yesterday and it is blooming again . just like yesteryears ... yeah =)

maybe my tank lack of some ions need for the bloomig for star polys . :peace:

Is it true that it can take up to a month for the star polyps to fully open? I bought mine on Tuesday (17th) and only a few polyps (less than 10) are opened. :( And I change my water regularly (once every 2 weeks). Do I still need to add additives like Iodide & strontium despite the regular water chages?

cityofangels,

Sis, depends on how much is absorbed.

This means testing.

Back to SP. I love them & so far they never close.

I have also stopped dosing my tank. They don't eat.

When newly accquired, they do feed as they might

have been starved at the LFS or watever reasons....

After a wk or 2, they dun react to dosing. I think the lights

are enuff... I still try to dose like 1 a wk just in case.

My tank have 2 different types.

Can click on my link below 2 see.

Thinking of getting more. ;)
