yes this is true. it will gradually reduce levels of nitrates and ammonia down as they most likely uses this as food for their symbiotic algae zooxanthellae.

which means certains corals does help in reducing nitrates and ammonia too.

It is true.. However, I don't think clams are able to bring down significant levels of nitrates. So don't expect to be able to replace your skimmer with a clam.

u hafta like buy 50clams to maybe bring down 1-3ppm of nitrate lvl

haha..but soon ur clams will start spawning..

and u will have loads of trouble..

maybe a blessing in disguise?..u will find some baby clams somewhere ard ur tank?

yes, I've ever red article wherby some reefers in US use clams to reduce their nitrate but as what jem said, u need a lot of clam to reduce just a small amount of nitrate...

clams also needs calcium so you will end up with having to buy a CR to keep the calcium and KH level constant....
