yes this is true. it will gradually reduce levels of nitrates and ammonia down as they most likely uses this as food for their symbiotic algae zooxanthellae.

which means certains corals does help in reducing nitrates and ammonia too.

if u want to bring down nitrates..

u hafta like buy 50clams to maybe bring down 1-3ppm of nitrate lvl

haha..but soon ur clams will start spawning..

and u will have loads of trouble..

maybe a blessing in disguise?..u will find some baby clams somewhere ard ur tank?
