Wood stain cabinet

Current cabinet is laminate. Over time under sunlight, color is a little faded. Just wondering is it possible to dye the laminate with wood stain, possibly walnut color? Is that possible, any DIY expert can advice?

as far as i know, wood stain works by being differentially absorbed by the grain in the wood...., if you stain a formica (ie. plastic) laminate, then i doubt you'll be able to get the effect you want...

UNLESS, your laminate is actually veneer, which is an thin piece of wood.. that might work.. hope it helps... i'm not expert, but that's what i think

Thank, taylapong for your feedback. In that case, i think it will not work then. Anyone else know how i may change the color of my laminate without having to tear the whole thing apart?

othe than paint there is not muh you can do with unatural products like formica or plastic laminates.

i made my cabinet myself and stained it a nice dark mahogany, very satisfying.

you could try to paste another laminate over the current one, if it's still secure... that's what i'm intending to do with mine probably sometime in january. If you want, we can go check out the laminates tog... it's my first time too, so i don't know if it'll work out.

The other option, available to both of us, is to strip the laminate off, sand it down, get all glue off hte wood, and then dye it and varnish it
