water with a lot of suspense...

my water has not been very clear lately, and its due to my live rocks regularly puffing out clouds of whitish things. i dunno what they are, and hw come its doing dat, but its pretty unsightly when i switch on the lights. i am currently using an atman HOF, 600L/h, and a weipro 2011 hung on to the side too. but it seems dat my water clarity still quite cloudy with suspense...

if you've jsut started your tank, with uncured LR from LFS, then its only natural.

all the micro-organisms within the rock will do their spring cleaning so that they'll be in time for CNY. no la j/k but nothing to worry about. since you're using uncured LR you don't have to start your cycle with the market prawn method.

all the dead/dying stuff within the rock releases enough ammonia to start the cycle.

the down point of using uncured LR is that your water will start to stink in a few days and even once your water cycle is complete, the rocks will still look dirty.

a few turbo snails can help you clear the remaining algae and stuff.

my advice, just leave it be. it'll clear naturally. don't recommend you try and rectify with quick fix solutions.

If it is indeed uncured LR, I suggest U take it

out & scrub once every week during the cycling

period. The dead & rotting will not be clear by snails.

If it is established rocks, there may be some

hitch hikers which just moved in. <_<

When i was using weipro, the water wasn't clear

due to tiny bubbles from the skimmer. Did U clean

your filter ? Maybe it is clogged.

If everything is working, there shouldn't be any

suspended particles even if ur live rocks are puffing "snow".

Just my S$0.02. :D

It is okay is it is a new tank. LR has more organism than we all know. It is like a planet on its own rights. New tank tends to have lousy water parameters, so these orgamism dies in the process.

Thus you get cloud, one week or two for they to adjust or for your water to adjust.
