Bloated & Cloudy Eyes

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Noticed that one of my blue tang eyes is bloated and cloudy. Any idea what’s wrongs with it? Apart from the bloated eye, he's swimming actively and still eating like a pig.

My Nitrate is on the high side, 50ppm (salifert test kit) and will be doing a 30% water change once my new water is ready.

Cheers~

is this affecting 1 eye or both?

usually if it affects only 1 eye it is usually associated with the fish injuring its eye due to perhaps being shocked and while darting away it hit its eye against a rock.

so as with human wounds, such physical injury will heal with time...it is rarely fatal but if it gets out of hand, the fish may lose its eye

if both eyes are bloated, u've got a water parameter crisis

u can do a search on wetwebmedia for more info on this

don't worry to much about it

u can feed garlic soaked food if it makes you feel better :)

in any case, i've heard alot about bloated eye from friends and fellow reefers but i've never heard of fatalities so i guess u can just wait out and hope the eye will be ok at the end

My regal had those around 3 times and recovered fully without any injuries.

I feed my fishes Formula Two pellets which contain garlic so I think garlic helps in a way B)
