Star Polyps
It's a goniopora, a difficult coral to keep even for some advance reefers including me

hammy
yup it's a goniopora. common name is jewel if i am not wrong. a flowerpot coral, has polyps and tentacles long enough to sting other coral and maintain large territory. not recommend for beginner as they tend to waste away after a few month and need intense light and moderate slow current . SRC Member cityofangels Posted December 17, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 17, 2005 Yeah, that's the mistakes which newbies tend to make. Nice coral/fish, buy, without knowing its maintenance and requirements. I'm guilty of such when I first started out in this hobby. However, over time, you'll soon want to learn and read more about the corals and fishes and want to really know how to care for them properly. It's personal gratification and satisfaction when the livestock thrives under your care. Since you have already purchased it, I suggest you read up as much as you can on how to care for this delicate piece of coral. Many reefers, even experienced reefers, have not had success with this coral. Perhaps you would like to msg a reefer, Iantoh, who has had success with them. Read up on Goniopora
