Why are we here?

Why are we here?

It is perhaps the most important question we've ever asked, and possibly the most difficult to answer.

Trees, as we know, produce oxygen.

Birds and insects pollinate the plants that feed us.

We know that some animals needs plants to survive, and some animals need animals.

Giant whales couldn't survive without tiny plankton, giant redwoods couldn't survive without insects.

But could life on this planet survive without us?

What is our purpose?

Why are we here?

Maybe it's because of all the species that share this world, we're the only ones with the power to protect the entire planet.

The only one with the power to protect every species on Earth.

Every species is here for a purpose, and each of us has a part to play.

Got to quote this very 'breath-taking' signature here.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,

but by the moments that take our breaths away.

Sis, hope you do not mind. But I think this is definately worth a second look.

noble sentiment.

But seriously over estimate the power of human being ..

Trees don'e produce oxygen because they know other creatures going to use it,

the produce it as a by-product after using up the carbon in CO2.

Insect and Bees don't give a dam whether we get fed,

they only want the nectars.

If there are no plackton, whales probably never exist...at all to start with...

They are all trying to survive !

Most creatures know exactly what they need, and take that only,

the rest would just falls into balance

the problem with most human being is , they don't know the difference between what they need and what they want..... and therefore can never be happy

Then I think the most important question here is

"But could life on this planet survive without us"

Yes, what you said is true to a certain extent that the various organisms do not care about other organisms.

But if you think of it, without plants, nothing could survive

Without birds and insects, flowering plants could not survive

Without plankton, whales could not survive

Without insects, giant redwood could not survive

But can our world survive without us?

What is our purpose?

I find this campaign by www.OneEarth.org very meaningful and worth a thought

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

Take it as this: There is a need to have a balance in everything. Once the equilibrium is skewed in the cycle, then some species will go extinct, leaving with the dominant species. The dominant species will then explode in population till a stage where natural disaster/diseases steps in to stop the growth and maybe also reduce the population.

Frankly, the world can survive without humans. If there are no humans, the next more dominant species will just take over human's position.
