Clown Fight

I had a golden maroon clown and true percula clown in the same tank for at least 2 months already.

Just this morning, i saw my golden maroon clown started attacking my true percula clown. Now the true percula has red bruises and faded colour.

Could this be due to the lighting period change?

my light up period previously was from 9pm to 8am everyday.

2 days ago, i switched to 12pm to 12am, and then moonlight from 12am to 10am.

Or any other reason for the sudden hostility?

Any clownfish experts out there can offer me explanations and quick solutions? cos currently just put my true percula into a cup.

seperate the two clowns at once!

clownfish are very terretorial and they will tend to fight even with their own breed.

Maroon Clowns are really aggresive fishes and they will too bully fishes including other types of clownfishes.

You can either choose to keep the maroon or the true percula in your tank.

Not both in the same aquarium

golden maron clowns R indeed territorial bugger. Got 2 friends whom told me tat when they put their hands in the tank, also got bitten by the golden maroon fellow, very aggressive

Yup understand they're territorial buggers. But what's puzzling is they've been getting along damn well for past few months and why start fighting now?!?!

You could monitor the situation for a while more. It could be just a "phase" thing. I have a maroon pair that was together for 4months, and one fine day they started fighting which lasted for 4-5 days, after which everything went back to normal.

I guess even fish couple has fights.

Monitor as in put them together or separate them first?

cos percula got bruises now scared cannot take it longer

if the bullied fish is no longer eating, then it will be better to separate them. For my case, the bullied fish was still eating, so I was not that concerned.

What happened was that before the change in lighting period, the GM was sleeping near sandbed. After the change, it started hosting the smaller anemone. This morning, i saw the GM chasing the percula around. Even when the percula retreated to its home (bigger anemone), GM still chasing it.

So i quickly scoop out the percula and put in a "new year cookie container with holes" but still inside main tank, creating a barrier btw them.

The percula still feeding while inside but not as greedy anymore. I was afraid the percula may just die in there as i experienced death after separation b4.

If possible i would like to put back the percula again but then scared further fighting. Should i put it back and monitor or try to nurse it back to health first before putting in again?

the small falla fins n tail had recovered liao n 2 of them eat like pig.....

The GMC's aggressiveness is one reason I am holding back in getting percula clowns. At the moment, I am temporarily housing my friend's pair of false perculas in my small QT in my main tank. Every now & then, my GMC will swim up to the QT, trying to attack the pair of false percs through the plastic.

My clown will fight if I restrict the feeding. When they go hungry, they will fight more frequently. Same for the demsel.

Anyway think if put in this pair will get killed by my GM
