Bought 1 big and 1 small maroon clowns.

1. How do I tell if they are mating? They seldom together touch each other  .

2. Was at CF and they are selling mated pairs of clowns together. And you can see the big one is twice as big as the small one. Is that the way? My small one is only 3/4 size of big one. :erm:

Initially, if both clowns are male, they will definitely fight for a while. Usually if the size difference is obvious, the fight doesn't last long. The smaller male clown will submit to the larger female clown by quivering as though it was having a seizure. If they swim close to eat other without trying to rip each other's fins out it can be considered mated. Clowns pair up very easily.

Large difference in size decreases fighting time and reduces injury and stress.

correct me if I'm wrong. :) Thought they only change once ? Or twice ? Once during infant from no ###### to male then to female if it happen to be the larger male in the colony when the female died ?

Or from infant to female and then die eventually. So ? I'm blur already :P:unsure::eyeblur:

Clowns are all born male and the dominant male will become female when the colony's single female dies. They can only change ###### once so females don't revert to being males.
