Found this article on web:

http://www.meandmephoto.com/Underwater/Haw...sl.html#HUMBUGD

Humbug Damselfish

(Dascyllus albisella)

The Humbug is also known as the Hawaiian Domino Damselfish, the Hawaiian Dascyllus or the Onespot Damselfish. Juveniles are black with a light white spot on each side and a neon-blue white spot on the forehead. This spot is lost as adults where they become black in front and back and grayish white in between. They can lighten or darken their color and become almost white when spawning.

They are always found in around branching coral heads, and if quiet on approach one can always hear their little chirping sounds. They are found at 20 to 60 feet or more. You will often find them at depth swarming around a solitary coral head. They are sometimes aggressive either alone or in groups as are most damselfish.

Same like the one in the pic, body white white, no spot, tot it's rare fish. Then i saw the price, $1.50. Then i take a closer look, and i noe why. The domino damsel "luk sek"..

hmm.. ur hawaiian damsel maybe swim from Indonesia thru the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii?

In any case, ur damsel doesn't look like the white body hawaiian damsel also. urs look more like ..

If some lfs sell something similar or same then I really no comments, i saw some rare fishes their price can go fm $18 to $78 diff. Mine bought at Ah meng's shop @ $28, mayb he koto koto I don't (mayb if u pass by his shop u can ask him how much he sell?). Well, that's all my info, i really don't want u to spend something not worthy. What i can say is, the price for a rare fish is very subjective, unlike the popular fishes, its value already been stabilized by the market's demand. Good luck if u bought @ only $1.50, so to me, I like this fish so i willing to paid @ that much, its value should remain at its owner's eye...

Pls don't continue our discussion here liao, i think we hv learn enough. I only welcome serious bidding, if u think is not worth bidding, then pls don't bid wif "ruppiah". Many many thanks! :D

for those who want to know more...

http://www.wetwebmedia.com/dascyllu.htm

...

Of similar appearance to the three-spot and unfortunately, temperament, is the Hawaiian endemic, Dascyllus albisella. More striking as a juvenile, with darker black and a bolder, larger triangular body spot, the Hawaiian is no match for the domino in sturdiness. I'd suggest Dascyllus albisella only for a biotopic, or serious study set-up.

...

Dascyllus albisella Gill 1862, the Hawaiian Dascyllus. Central Pacific: Hawaiian and Johnston Islands. To five inches. A poor shipper, and as nasty a biter as the similar Three-Spot, Domino, Dascyllus trimaculatus. Hawai'i pix of very small (1/2"), younger (2"), older (3") individuals.

Rare fish must find rare buyer lah.

Taken from the URL:

Damselfishes are an extremely important group of tropical and sub-tropical marine fishes, for the wild and saltwater hobbyists. Damsels provide a vital link both as reef forage fishes as well as excellent beginner marine aquarium specimens. What makes them so great is their diversity, beauty and tolerance of chemical and physical conditions, "interesting" behavior when crowded and general compatibility with fishes and invertebrates. To top all this off damselfish species normally accept all types of food eagerly and are very disease resistant.

Use to have 2 pair but gave it to my friend. Reason being my Emperor 6" Blue Face 4" Powder Blue 7" and all my other smaller fish fin all chui chui... found out its the 2 bugger.

But it will be good for people who have a All Damsel Tank.

Upzz.... :peace:
