SRC Member Earth Posted December 12, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 12, 2005 Hi all FOWLR reefers I'm into FOWLR for the past 7 months. For maintenance, I clean up the skimmer once or twice a week and also try to change water as long as time permits. As advised by many reefers, I have totally removed all coral chips used for filtration (bit by bit per month) and added more LR So far, all my fishes are healthy and eating except that i noticed that some of their colours are fading. I am just wondering if i have missed out any additives which are essential for the health and colour of the fishes? Any FOWLR reefer like to share what additive you usually dose into your fowlr system and how frequent? Btw, mine is an 4ftx1.5ftx2.3ft IOS tank made by At$%#tis. Also running a Deltec MCE600 hangon skimmer and Coralife 36W UV. Quote 4x1.5x2.3 home tank 6x2x2.3 office tank

SRC Member Earth Posted December 19, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 19, 2005 Hi Hammy Been feeding my fishes with pellets (formula 1&2 and 3 different types from kent marine). As advised by one of the LFS, also dripped garlic, some other additives like zeocon and another liquid which I can't remember what name (all from kent marine) into the pellets. Heard from the LFS that pellets would contain all the minerals which the fishes need... As for the tangs, occasionally, i will buy some "red grapes" for them to peck on. Both the yellow and purple tang seem to lose their colours... Quote 4x1.5x2.3 home tank 6x2x2.3 office tank
salmon11
If you are talking these tangs, then there is no way to enhance their color back to normal. Just for your information, these two fish can do well in captivity but their color is difficult to maintain.
SRC Member kueytoc Posted December 20, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 20, 2005 Mmmm colors shouldn't be a problem for these Tangs...try to feed them Seaweed or Veggies food soaked with ZOECON. Guaranteed colors will be restored ! Quote WRASSEY REEF PARADISE 4ftx2.5ftx2.5ft SRC Site: Welcome to My World of WRASSEYS !!! SRC Member PerculaClownfish Posted December 25, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 25, 2005 Jireh has lots of nori seaweed packed already..Each pack for a $1.00.Since i am working for them,What i usually do id to take a bunch of the nori and soak it in water until it expands than i use my hands and break them apart...Once in small pieces you can just put it into the tank!! And i must tell you that the tangs really love it especially when they have newly arrive as that could be their natural diet0!!
