Feeding..

Give me your house keys. I will help you feed. :P

Seriously, if they are not pellet trained. I think you might need to get someone to come over and feed them.

Otherwise, you feed them alot before you leave, and hope they are still alive when you come back. :P I am serious.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but just tat my issue is about feeding too :peace:

I've been feeding my clowns and tangs ML henry's food mixed with Formula II pellets. Both sink quite fast and once the food reach the bottom the fishes won't touch them anymore, so leaving quite a fair amount of waste food on sandbed.

How do i keep them afloat? or to raise the food sunk to the bottom? :thanks:

Project R.E.

Main Tank: 48" x 18" x 24" 12mm with external overflow piping

Sump Tank: 28" x 14.5" x 12" (3 compartments)

Lightings: T5 HO - Hopar 3* 39w + ATI 2* 54w

Skimmer: Skimz Bullet Beckett

Chiller: Resun CL-650 (28 - 29 °C)

Wavemakers: 2* Seio M620 + 1* Hydor K2 (7100 litre / hr)

Fluidized Reactor: Skimz FR (currently empty)

Pumps: 1x Rio 32HF (Skimmer), 1x Rio 20HF (Return & Chiller)

Filtration: more than 80kg LRs, chaeto

Water Circulation: ~ 4000 litre / hr

Future Plans: additional wavemaker, DIY algae scrubber, DIY overflow box

Last time i fed my fishes flakes, then after awhile 2 of my clowns stopped eating, tried using henry's food to entice them but still won't eat.. in the end wasted away.

Now the new clowns and tangs feeding greedily on henry's and formula 2 pellets. So afraid if revert back to flakes again the cycle will repeat.

Have scavengers already. But the point is dun wanna waste my food and majority goes to feed scavengers instead of fishes

You can try Salifert Energy Plus. They floats.

I used it by chance and have since reccomended to a few close reefers.

Salifert Energy Plus?

it's pellets?

Thanks bro, but the solution i'm really looking for is to ensure my fishes eat the food i'm feeding now and to minimise waste food going straight to sandbed

Will try the Salifert one once the frozen food runs out

Yes, Salifert Energy Plus are pellets.

Try to first coat your pellets with some henry's food to get your fishes to recognise them as food. Subsequently, they will go for it automatically liao.

Get some bottom dwellers such as certain gobies, small hermits, black cucumber or sand dollar to clear up the food on the sandbed.
