Maybe you might want to start off with achieving stable and good water parameters first.

LPS are relatively easy except they require bright lights and moderate flow

Our sponsors bring in LPS quite often too

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Yup, like Gouldian has said, you have definitely come to the right place! Stable water parameters is essential for marine life. The cycling process takes about a month so during that time, you can read up more on the types of corals and fishes you wish to keep and learn about their requirements. ;)

12 mm should be pretty safe. But one thing is not to get too impulsive and buy everything in the fish shop. Read first. Find past articles about systems and equipment...this will ensure that you won't be (or at least not as big) a carrot, wait LFS chop you.

Mabbe a good reading guide would be on:

1.Nitrogen cycle and beneficial bacteria

2.Deep Sand Beds(DSBs), Plenums, Barebottoms(Natural filtration more or less)

3.Sumps, Overflows, Canisters(These are different filtration systems)

Any bro/sis got other stuff to add?

btw COA, not shooting you but IMO i just think he gotta setup the basic system to cycle before he can move on to lights and other things :D (no offence k :pinch: )

POSSIBLE EXCEPTION:If you intend to keep SPS, you may or may not choose to have a sandbed coz SPS demands good nutrient control and some find it easier to not have a sandbed but of course there are those that have succeeded well with a sandbed too.

cheerz and may you find fun in the hobby!
