i juz installed the skimmer into my tank. juz a few questions to ask:

1. the submersible pump which i used, is producing 2000L/hr. when i switched it on, the whole tank starts to have this vibration due to the pump, as the pump is against the wall of the tank. will it have any effects on my fishes?

2. the water level is stated on the venturi, but i can never get the water level to be lower den dat. anyway, where is the foam supposed to be at? inside the conical tube of the cup? or below the cup?

3. i know its a lil long, but is anyone able to tell me how does the skimmer work? cos i have been staring at it for really long, but cant make any sense outa it...

thanks lots if bros here could help me out here...

The skimmer hanging by the side of ur main tank?

In tat case even if pump is not causing the vibration, the skimmer will cause the vibration since it's touching the wall

The water level usually supposed to be higher than the level stipulated on the venturi for it to be really effective ;)

Project R.E.

It could be due to back pressure or jus insufficent vibration insulatin. Can you arrange it such that it doesn't touch the glass walls... and cushion with some rubbr suckers. Don't think it'll hurt your fishes more than your ears/peace of mind. Besides it shouldn't vibrate too much...

2. the water level is stated on the venturi, but i can never get the water level to be lower den dat. anyway, where is the foam supposed to be at? inside the conical tube of the cup? or below the cup?

Maybe it shouldn't be at that level? I find that by following that line, I don't get enough lift for any decent skimmate, so much of a waste of energy, so I tuned the gate valve to bring the level up to the neck.

3. i know its a lil long, but is anyone able to tell me how does the skimmer work? cos i have been staring at it for really long, but cant make any sense outa it...

So whats the lesson... staring at anything, short or long, won't give you an answer.:P... try googling

I am also using the same weipro with 2000L/hr. But no such problem.. I tune it with the valve to the level just at the neck of the cup. For my case, I discovered that if the water level is different from the time u tune it... the level of the foaming is different (heavyevaporation) . So i try to keep the water level almost constant.
