Greetings reader,

I bought one elegance today. It was huge and it blooms very nicely at the store. when i unpack the bag i smell something bad. Like rotten coral and start to inspect the coral. God damm it. I noticed that the shell was crack and some of the flesh has out. So i clean out some of it. However i put it back it in my tank and within half an hour it starts to bloom again.

Questions, is there anywhere the shell of the elegance will heal and will it recover? IS there any medicine in the market which helps to coral to recover from damage ? Please share your opinion.

personally, i managed to keep elegance for 8 months but due to infected by other corals (brown jelly diesases) it dies off. You can search some previous thread covering on elegances and take note, its not an easy coral to keep. Not many people succeeded in these. hope these helps. :D

elegance coral reproduces by gradual fragmentation from within. The vast fleshy body produces new skeletal material inside, to be eventually extruded; the weight of the flesh and skeleton assists the separation of the masses. elegance coral often divides this way in tank.

in the meanwhile keep your water parameter great. they do poorly in nutrient rich water and need strong lighting and enough current to wash away metabolism.

if the crack is not too severe and ur water parameter is great.there might be a chance for it to heal on it's own.
