Which pump to use?

As above, which pump and recommended flowrate to use with the 36W UV to get the best effect?

Currently running it with a pump with 2500L / Hr. is it ok?

Slower better. As water slow pas arround the UV tube more retention time for the "bugs"

to be exposed.

Actually, i don't even know what's the brand and rating of my return pump. Whole system (IOS) was set up by someone... Can't really see the pump now due to the design of the tank.

Anyway, I m using lifetech 2500L/hr pump to run the UV. U think it's ok?

just curious, you running ozone now is it pal?

how come u ruuning UVC leh?

i heard that running UV can kill some good bacteria. Am i right?

some experts might want to confirm this!

Hi,

I ask for the pump because the best way to employ a UV in the system is trough return pump, whole return to pass trough the UV. Other way is so called"passive" separate pump, but this way, however is a certain "bypas".

wil_lee, yes the UV light will destruct the DNK structure of any bacteria, but most wanted bacteria however live on the solid surrfaces, live rock, biomedia etc. UV has it drawnbacks but also a good .

Thanks for the tip, will do the modification to run UV together with return pump.

Wil_Lee, yap, was running ozone but after thinking very hard, decided to go for UV instead though i must say that ozoniser is still the best product i have used so far.

But I don't really feel good with the possible leak of ozone... especially i still have other family members staying with me...
