Zoos not opening

Got a few zoos from reborn a few days back.

Did a freshwater dip and a bit of shaking just to check and makesure no uninvited guests

Now got 2 rocks not opening up.. While the other is opening a little only...

Scared they die w/o opening at all..

Is it due to too much light? Too little? Too much flow?

Tank full 2ft deep to sand bed

Position of zoos: 1 3/4ft down from lights

Running:

150W MH 20KK

250W MH 10KK

temp: 27.0 - 28.5

for a 2 ft...u are running 150w mh n 250w mh....dun u tink the lightings is overkill??.....one possibilty is tt the zoos are expose to strong lights..tts y dun wan open..

Was into SPS previously but it was too $$ on the electrical bill and I can't afford the amt of maintance for them now tt i am in uni 6days a week

So settling for zoos and rics

Tried switching on my 150W only but still not opening up

check your water parameters and also for nudis.

Anyway how long did you dip in fresh water.

if u r using mh, try reducing photoperiod as they may not be used to it..

My zoos take about 1-2 days to open fully after a fresh water dip of 5-10minutes.

How long was your freshwater dip?

And like what Flame-tail has mentioned, check for nudi-branches.

nudi... How small can they be? Cos i don't see anything moving among them (lights or off)

Any tell tail signs like miss polys or??

prec: Running only 8hrs now was originally at 12hrs. Or is 8hrs still too much at 150W MH?

Zoons are placed close to sandbed abt 2ft below lighting

Nudi-branches are like sea-slugs. They can come in a multitude of colours. Apparently, they change colour according to the zoos they are feeding on. Therefore, it is often VERY hard to find them. Their camouflage is fantastic! And they will mow through your zoos if you don't exterminate them.

Anyway, just some pics of nudi-branches which I got from the net. Remember, they can be any colour!

See some opening a little more... but overall still closed

But i see alot of them shedding "skin".. is tt normal??

zoos dosent require super strong lights tts y i sae that using 250w plus a 150w mh is way too strong for zoos...2ft in height is jus nice for a T5HO...

but definitey...zoos dosent bloom bocs it dosent lyk the direct lights blasting away..

So the best way is dip into fresh water for 5 minutes to kill the nudi??

I usually do a 5minute FW dip and I shake the zoos to make sure the nudi-branches fall off. If I can see any nudi-branches with the ###### eye, I'll use a pair of tweezers to pull them off.

i dipped into freah water for abt 3-5 mins. afterwhich, put it under the running tay for abt 1 min. While doing so, i aslo shake the zoos to try to shake off some nudieggs and the irritating pests.

Some got stressed up by the way i did and will only open up after abt 3 days. but after the process, they r a whole lot of happy open zoos.

Dip,flush, soak. Don't worry zoos can handle it. Mine when kena nudi attack that's what i'll do.But not too long and don't shake in water till the polyps drop off.
