i have tried that with

(a) bare hands, results = Negative

( soak in vingear, results = Negative

© burn it with a lighter, results = negative

in the end, just saw away OR replace another new one.

lesson learn...never glue ur pipe unless its per.

i think i heard some people can heat it over a stove but seriously speaking unless you put very little solvent u are not going to be able to pull them apart...

cutting is the way to go...

haizz. if cut the pipe then i need to buy a joint to join the extended pipe. Anyone tried using heat gun to soften the pipe first?

if correct PVC glue was used then the joint will be permament and can not be separated without destroying the pipes. Cutting is the only way.

Moral of the story is to only glue joints that really need to be glued.

but if don't glue then how to ensure that water doesn't leak?

glueing with pvc glue basically bonds the pvc from the 2 piece into 1. it sorts of dissolves the surfaces in contact and then when the thinner evaporates, the two surfaces become one. thats y its permanent and cannot take out other than by cutting.

I use silicon to coat the contact points or if non critical areas, I just use plumbers tape to wrap tightly the "male" part of the connection (or some call it teflon tape .. anyway its the white filmlike tape used in plumbing connections, very cheap, 50cents a small roll).

However, using silicon, dont twist the pipes after it has cured cuz that would make it leak. for the plumbers tape, must wrap tight and neat and then make sure you plug it into the female end as far as it can go and tight.

taylapong, as zeotz recommends use the white plumber sealing tape or silicon sealant. Some PVC fittings are already qquite tight on the pipe and do not need anything, but most are rather loose and need the tape or silicon sealant.
