Low dKH, Ca and Mg

hi guys,

recently i'm been trying to get my water parameter right

current reading is

dKH - 7

Ca - 380

Mg - 1140

pH - 8.1

In which order shld i tackle the issue? Or rather, what shld i be dosing 1st??

hmmz...could it be due to the salt u are using??....

IMO....increase ur KH first...

Ca and Mg seems a little low while kH is close to NSW levels.

Will recommend you to increase the Mg and Ca on a alternate day basis (one day Mg, one day Ca) until Ca = 420ppm and Mg 1300ppm.

Talk about salt there are much good quality salt out there and one of them I would suggest you to use is OCEANIC as it contains high levels of mg and ca

if im not wrong if u have low mg ur kh isnt stable compare if u have a healthy mg...

can some1 confirm on tis.....cause i cant remember where i read it....

technically and fundamentally true, get the Mg to stay in the desired healthy level, then bring up the kH and Ca accordingly

imo its not cost saving to buy a low content mg salt...then u buy bottles of mg to bring up the mg level....might as well get a salt tat can give a near specs to NSW....its onli my opi.....

hey bro, ppl's choice always able to give min 1300ppm Mg leh frm my experience...

so far, my epsom salts still sitting in one corner... hohoho..

brought up CA to 400 using TM Bio-CA ... but Mg and dKH remains.

had just does Kent Tech-M ... will test water this evening to see

what to does

also, will test coral life salt this weekend for dKH, pH, Mg, Ca at

room temperature ... if no good ... might want to try out other brand

of salt

juz measured the coral life saltwater mixture with DI water.

saltwater left overnight to stablize

measurement taken at room temperature

salinity @ 1.025

Ca - 480+ (might be more than 480 coz two drops and TM test kit

turn colorless)

Mg - 1200 (below expectation)

pH - 8.3

dkH - 7

zephyros...take a cup of Tropic Marin pro reef salt, do the same measurments, than ..see abouth pp'ls choice... btw, the readings are not bad at all...

coral life has VERY HIGH Ca but below average Mg of 1200.

Mg is recommended to be between 1250-1350.

for comparision. Thanks.

newly mixed saltwater must be left over-night for it to stablise before

testing. Very interested in results of Tropic Marine salt, AquaC ME,

Kent etc
