Havoc Water Parameter

Recommended Posts

Hi bros,

Did a test calcium test using Salifert test kit and found my calcium level is above 500ppm. Did 30% water change twice but still cant bring the calcium level down.

Suspecting that my dKH may be a problem too, I did a test using a Salifert kit and found that my dKH is 3.8 / 1.37meq/L which is way too low.

Please advice me on what should I do next to stablise the parameters.

Cheers~

dripping is not a better choice, rather it's mandatory...

never had any chance of boosting up kH by "dumping"...

u'll be amazed what dripping can do bro!

That just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to,

doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.

Did you let the newly mixed saltwater run for a day before using it for water change? Most salts need a running period for parameters to stabilise before usage. Don't add any additives for now. There is no way to bring the kH up to optimal levels with a calcium level that high. Find out what is causing the high calcium levels, then tackle your kH. Best bet is to perform water changes using natural seawater or another brand of salt for now, while you look for the source that's causing the ionic imbalance.

Always something more important than fish.

I'm doing a regular 20% water change every weekend and will always prepare the water 4-5 days earlier so I'm very sure the water parameters should be stabilise by then.

The high calcium is proberly due to the kalk drip I did few days back but I didnt expect it to jump so high as I dripped less then a litre of kalk but boy was I wrong.

Anyway, I'm preparing for a 70% water change and will let it settle down for about 3 days bofore changing the water.

Cheers~
