Keep it empty for 2 weeks. You can add inverts in the time being..just don't add fishes. After 2 weeks should be fine. Just let the free floating stages of the ich parasite to starve to death without a host...

Always something more important than fish.

IMO best not to add anything. Even corals sometimes have the cysts of parasites on them.

Anyway..amazing why ur maroon is died faster compared to your yellow tang?

Does your yellow tang have white spot?

Can cut 2-3 small bead sized garlic for it. It will eat them. Should recover soon. Worked for mine...next day spots gone!

Always something more important than fish.

Try reducing ur SG...I've heard of ppl reducing SG to 1.018..but I'm not sure if that would be safe in your tank. You can reduce it to 1.020 first while you look for more opinions...try increasing your water temperature to 28-29 degrees celcius to speed up life cycle of ich parasite..

If you want to risk medication...you could try myxazin or octozin by waterlife...I have used it personally..no side effects...ML carries it..

Good luck

Oh yes..yep..the garlic went direct in my tank and into my tang. :D

maybe u might wan to test other parameters such as pH, kH?

white spots may be due to stress... n ur fish may die from other bad water parameters?

if u r sure bout having good water parameters... n ur yellow tang is still feeding,

u can try soaking frozen fish food with garlic/garlic guard (long term good fish health) n also buy a cleaner shrimp (short term solution)... :peace:

all tanks have parasites.. even with a UV usage.

Its matter of getting your fish butter upz to immune

to parasites attack. Sama sama like the common flu

we have.

One thing abt white spots - ich is the stress level n

follow by poor water condition. As long as the fish

is happy, n your parameter is good, everything oki liao.

If stress, parameter is good, still kenna spots.

Nothing much we can do, except butter them upz

with garlic soaked food to boost immune system.

take drastic steps of soakin in copper + partial

mix tank + freshwater. Most parasites will take

in the freshwater n die in a short while.

U may note that the white spots becomes bloated

after the soaking session. 2days later, almost

all the spots are gone.

Do note, freshwater dip is extremely stress,

its just a short term remedy, after soaking,

put back in tank, if fish still have not get

used to new environments, the spots will come again.

(esp stressed freshly dip fish)
