New Chiller

Chiller technology is very old technology and would not be very surprise if the price is as such eg. how much is air-con for homes nowadays? even for Mitsubishi system 3 about thousand - 2 odd? Really wondered about the pricing of some aircon (chiller) for aquarium which can command those kind of amount.

I may be embarking on a personal project in utilising the home compressor unit as the compressor for the heat exchanger (Ti) in cooling the tank. Perceived some cost savings as my a/c is inverter and on 24/7, so the effect on the cooling for the tank might be more bearable both for initial and running cost.

HOWEVER...if like what you mentioned that a new chiller will be out costing that sort of more realistic amount and can do a decent job, why bother then?

Some chiller 1.5 - 2k assuming 2k divide by $200 you can buy 5 of such units and if such last you just a year that'll be 5 years. My Resun at S$400 odd together with many friends' have already lasted for more than a year and is still going strong despite some signs of reduced efficiency which is normal for all kinds of chiller big and small cheap and expensive (a dichotomy isn't it)...thus S$200 chiller for a year is reasonable.

Do share with us on the brand and make if you have any info...

Hi, i heard from a reefer saying that there will be a new chiller coming out end of this year, price ard $200 +

Anybody heard about this news ?

Maybe you are the one coming up with the chiller?

Anyway have checked with aircon guys doing ACMV, a/c whatever in building projects you know those hands on guys with real technical knowledge in building a competent chiller utilising Ti heat exchanger unit with good compressor utilising the best refrigerant the market has to offer, it can amount to between S$400-S$600 (they have priced in some effort) but aesthetically the unit will not be nice looking...but hey that pricing tells you an awful lot doesn't it?

In the end, they tell me go get resun - good enough...
