Maintenance of Weipro skimmer

Experts... Please advise if Weipro skimmers can be dismantled and clean? Especially the main body tubes...

I tried opening my 2013. My top half was ok but I think the bottom half was glued..So in the end I attached a small sponge scrub to a piece of wire and that was the best way.

Yup think the manufacturer glued the bottom of the skimmer....

yes, I cleaned my the same way, using a wooden chopstick with a small piece of filter to clean the lower part of the main body - anyone got any other ideas???

Can try vinegar but please do make sure you wash it properly after that.

the inner cylindrical tube can be removed with a long nose plier. with that out of the way, you should be able to clean better.

personally, IMO..For weipro, i would suggest to clean more often ...BUT be careful when dismantle, it may crack...if not handle properly. Arcylic that they uses very think....

soak in a solution of water wif vinegar 10parts to 1

the same way you take it out... its a tight fit. Pls if you don't feel you can do it, don't take it out then.

IME, if the skimmer is left in the dark, it doesn't become dirty as easily. The neck where the cup joins thebody tends to crack easily. You'll see fine hairline cracks... and this will cause some leaks... jus be gentle in remove the cup for cleaning, twist slowly, lubricate with water if you must, that helps.

The cup and its cover is very brittle, the body is pretty solid...

Previously i got myself a weipro 2012.It's a hang-on type of skimmer.

As u all know skimmer is to get rid of all those waste produce, my skimmer get jammed and the water flow out of my tank.From that day, change to macro.

Have to do a through cleaning.

I am using a Weipro 2012 but submerge the skimmer into sump instead of hanging ley... it's ok so far. Was yours jammed by the dirt trapped in the skimmer due to lack of cleaning?

Nonetheless, what is the pump size u used then? I am using Atman 2000L/hr. Good enough?

Haf a thought that the more powerful the pump, the better the skim,since this kind of venturi skimmer is dependent on the pressure forced into the skimmer. Any idea if the theory is correct?

only need to clean the venturi, just remove it and poke a toothpick through it ...it gets jam from time to time

I dun have a sump in my system, i hang it outside my tank.That's the problem i face.

But u have to do a check on it every week.If it jam, the protein skimmer won't work at all..

If any reefers selling macro skimmer, u can buy it from them.

From my past, macro works better for mi.Not the needlewheel type.

Mine is the venturi type. Cos needlewheel pump spoilt = HEACHACHE.

Needlewheel will produce very fine bubbles.But with needle pump spoilt, really difficult to find replacement or expensive to find(Tat's in the past,now dunno)

Venturi doesn't produce very fine bubbles.
