Hi all, need some help regarding the DSB.

There seems to be quite a few posts here regarding denitration recently and from what I understand after reading them, anerobic bacteria lives in oxygen depleted areas only. So if the anerobic bacteria is in the DSB, that will make the DSB oxygen-free. And if the DSB is oxygen-free, that probably means that the water is not circulating there... otherwise there should be oxygen there too. No?

So what I don't get is if the oxygen is not getting there, how does the nitrate?

DSB is quite a well studied topics. There is oxygen, much lesser as it goes deeper. Nitrate gets there from left overs, poop from fishes etc. The bacteria and company converts the nitrate to Nitrogen and stuff....
