SRC Member tineng Posted November 8, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2005 leave the wool out of the canister but instead prefilter at the intake of the canister.....clear this intake twice a week....should be able to bring down the no3....the idea is to prevent too much dirt being trap in the caniister and thus become a nitrate factory.....but do remeber to clean the filter at the intake regularly.... hammy Posted November 8, 2005 Share Posted November 8, 2005 actually a canister itself is a nitrate factory unless it is maintain regularly. i just dump 1.5kg of biohomes and some eheim coarse pre filter in my classic 2215. nitrate is about 12.5ppm using tetra but i am running 2 prizm at the same time for my 2 feet.
