Hey there

was just looking through the deltec web site

and found the above

Stating that the system work by evaporation any ideas anyone.

Low power consumation only 44W to replace 700watt of cooling power.

Anyone can comment on the above ,may be looking at this purchase :heh:

Will not effectively in Singapore due to the high humidity. It works on a basis of forced evaporation and will work significantly better in places of very low humidity considering the target temperature of most of our tanks (26-28 degrees)

Also, have you enquired on how much it will cost to puchase the cooler? :)

yeah doesn't work well in singapore... if you have a tank in a hot dry climate this would work quite well I believe..

In air-conditioned buildings in singapore they use such evaporative coolers (cooling towers) but coupled with the usual refrigerant based methods...

there is air cool and water cool for A/C system. most of the household unit use air cool to cool their condenser (to convert the refrigerant at the high temp and high pressure to low temp and low pressure). in the commercial building, they would use water cool (cooling tower) to cool their condenser unit (to convert the refrigerant at the high temp and pressure to low temp and pressure). all our a/c here use refrigerent gas :P

yups but it works because the cooling coils are hotter than the surrounding environment (owing to the refridgerant) thus it can be air or water cooled in our environment..

If you simply pump water that you need cooled thru the cooling coils, it will hardly do anything, or even worse it might gather heat from the sun & environment instead (like some solar heaters)...
