Hi AlfaRomeo,

I have been there before and bought couple of Kg from there. The rocks looks ok and by the way at the end of my shopping there they took note of my NRIC for CITIES documentation purpose.

The Latin name stated on the tax invoice is as such: SCLERACTINA SP

Actual price is $20/kg but there is a 20% discount which is $16/kg.

Look for a guy named Jone( hope my spelling is correct). When I was first there, he helped me choose and stack the rock for me to look at and it nearly went beyond my budget. Luckily I controlled the amout of rocks.

I would suggest that you don't buy all the 80kg one shot. Scape your tank step by step. They will roll wetted newspaper ard the rock and place them in a styrofoam box. take note of the time needed for you to setup the LR since if you buy all 80kg, they can't be left in the box for so long.

All their rock are cured ones.

Another way would be to make a rock stand using egg crates and pvc pipes.This will decrease the amount of rocks you need to use and they add to better water circulation too.

Will be putting 2 streams on opposite ends of the tank so circulation wont be a problem even with all LR i think.

Can i enlist yer help once the project begins? need advice and help on location ...

Yup, what would a good size for the sump be? planning to have a refigium with DSB incorparoated into the sump too.

go for as big as you can find space for.best is to incorporate a refugium in too.

Very good idea.But i don't think newbies are prepared to invest as much money as you.hehe..

That might be true but at least they get the concept right on how to lay the DSB, PVC pipes and how to do a proper landscaping etc etc (plus i get to use the skills of the experts on my tank!)

Oh yah,since you planning on a sump.you might want to calculate the amount of flowrate and build the right overflow.Generally,10 - 20 times the amount of water.

i think this is a great idea but i am not sure if you would want 10-20 pple in your house.

yeah,10 - 20 times.your tank is roughly 200 gal.So the minimum flowrate is 2000 gal per hour.It is the rate of the water going into the sump and back.

i wld suggest tat u buy a mixture of rockz... fiji / plate / staghorn / norm. thiz way, it will look more natural. moreover hvin' staghornz will make placin' of coralz easier coz of the branchez. agree???

After adding the LR and sand and after the cycling process is over. do you think its advisable to add a trigger or 2 for 1 week or so, so that the undesirables (like mantis etc etc) in the tank will be eliminated?

Not sure whether triggers will clear mantis anot.Why not add orchid dottyback?

If you can afford it go for the Fiji rock. The use of low grade Indonesian rock may well lead to unwanted and difficult to get rid of algae problems. It also tends to have more of the unwanted hichhikers.
