euphoria
ok..heres what happened: 3 days ago, i heard water spalshing sounds from the side of the tank. On inspection, i realised that the water is actually overflowing the cup ( dun tell me how to adjust, its been there for quite a while, skimming kopi-o ), and i do clear the cup before its even a quarter filled. The first thing that came to me is the the outlet is blocked. I check the outlet knob, and it is clear. Then must be the bloody sponge is clogged. wash the sponge and its fine again. Today, the same thing happened! So pissed of, and i decided to do without the sponge. Imagine what could have happened to my tank if i not at the living room, or not at home??? I realised that this has not happened when i use the dolphin pump, as i put a prefilter sponge , so nothing except water gets to the skimmer. Now i use the Sicce Extrema, and I could not find a suitable prefilter and this happens. Anyone knows of any suitable prefilter for Extrema? the inlet is flat le...so i can't wrap a cotton pad around it like my Dolphin. Please do take note. SRC Member hoppinghippos Posted September 19, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 19, 2003 I don't use the sponge either, but thanx for the warning!!! and I suggest simply putting filter sponge over the flat intake of the sicce extrema and using cable tie to tie it tight? euphoria
I don't use the sponge either, but thanx for the warning!!! and I suggest simply putting filter sponge over the flat intake of the sicce extrema and using cable tie to tie it tight? thought about this idea..seems like the only way. However, since this will involve 'covering' part of the actual pump, i'm not sure if it'll damage the pumpbecause we are not letting it dissipating the heat
JCHO
This will also happen when there is a power failure. When power is restored the cup would most likely overflow.

SRC Member SpiderOne Posted September 20, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 20, 2003 u got $$ for thousands of watts of lights and $1k calc reactor.. what u doing with a weipro skimmer man. Its not the pumps fault. its the filter sponge on the outlet get clogged. some pumps have a pre filter. which basically puts the sponge filter before the skimmer. so water that enters is more free of detritus
