We were explorig some renovation ideas for our house when my wife chanced upon the idea of an Aquarium ###### TV console. See Attached.

It is about 15x1.5x1 ft bottom tank with the top for TV & other storage. It will probably be make of 2-3 pcs of front 12-15mm glass and constructed of fibreglass & cement block structure support. Wooden furniture console will sit above it and act as a framing support. Only intent to keep big 4-6" fish.

Anyone here did something similar before.

Will this idea work ?

Thanks :P

then where you going to have all your equipments bro?

hmm.... think will need some sort of space for equipments, and to feed the fishes...

sounds like a big project.... =)) but wouldn't the view of the fishes be obstructed pretty much? ít'll be such a waste....

my 2cents. but hope it'll turn out real nice if you decide to do it!! =)

Not very feasible imho, moreover, the 1ft depth is a little too shallow for your big fishes.

I agree. It might look fantastic in the short term, but you are going to find it a pain in the ###### once the corraline (or hair algae and cyano) builds up, the whole thing will look crappy. Unless you are willing to put in a HECk of a lot of time to service it (as the entire setup is not too user friendly), you will end up looking at a bog everytime you sit down to watch TV.

I think there was this other thread about "designer tanks" - the one with moorish idols. It really sucked.

Get a real tank where you can put real equipment and do real maintenance.

Yes, equipment will placed on the upper console with allowance on both sides just above tank for lightings & 2-sections slide-type top open acrylic covers. Tank height might be make higher to 1.5' instead of 1' (thanks Melvyn).

If Marine, likely will be Fish (Angel, butterflies & small shoal fishes) only. Blue background & discrete lighting, no sandbed and maybe with those US type artificial coral for color & deco.

If Fresh then it will be easier.

The reason why we like it to be at the bottom console is that we can get very near to the fish in our most relax positions (ie. couching, laying or sleeping); i.e just like next to the open sea. Just a thought.

Attached some great samples from USA, Living Color.

Can try going to Park Mall.. there is this shop that sells tanks fashioned in this manner.. can go there to get some ideas or talk to the person lor..

but do take note, at 15x1.5x1.5ft.. the weight of the tank is gonna be an issue.. also, i'm not too sure whether do they have the glass panel in that size.. also, the thickness issue.. at almost 5M long.. the pressure that the glass has to sustain is no joke... also, i hope u are staying in a landed property.. otherwise, that glass panel will hv difficult entering the lift of ur flat...
