It can take two or three days for skimmate to occur - the main thing is that it is happy bubbling away with small bubbles. If you are getting lots of small bubbles them the skimmate will come eventually!

My new beckett took 2-3 days to produce skimmate and now I get 1-2 cups a day.

It's always a good choice to spend on the best equipments you can afford, won't regret, better than to spend on the livestock when the tank is not ready for them.....learned it the hard way......

you may want to site the chiller with the fan blowing out of the window if possible, then it act as an air extractor also.....

haha my parents are 101% against me having this hobby lo. spoil the parquet flooring, eat an amazing amt of power, funny large plastic things with water swirling inside them and a big black box that gives off hot exhausts aren't really their cup of tea.
