SRC Member Melvyn Tan Posted October 29, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 29, 2005 Hi, Would love to find out which in your opinion would be the most ideal Tang in your reef tank. I choose the Sohal as the best for the following reasons; 1) One of the hardiest if not hardiest 2) The most beautiful (the fins, lyretail, orange scapel, the iridescent blue and wonderful lines on the body) and graceful 3) Valuable due to its Price-survival value (usually in the region of S$65 onwards) cost effective What about the rest? SRC Member Melvyn Tan Posted November 4, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 4, 2005 Looks like Yellow Tang is the most popular, being hardy, easy to keep and beautiful. I do have one myself and i must agree on the overall ease and its beauty. 2nd as of now being Purple Tang and Sohal Tang. taylapong
i personally think powder blue quite hard..., super susceptible to ich...
SRC Member wil_lee76 Posted December 28, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 28, 2005 agreed on that powder blue...can try! but QT first. Rather than adding into the main tank. Make that bugger feed and you have high chances of keeping! maybe some reefers here might share how they manage to keep powder blue. Maybe you would like to consider getting hardy fish like yellow tang and purple tang?
taylapong
yeah, i'd really like to know how to keep powder blue too! i've tried twice, and one almost wiped out my whole tank cos of ich... got one guy selling his PB tang on the forums who's kept it for 2 years!! Woah!! Maybe he can help
SRC Member cityofangels Posted December 30, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 30, 2005 I agree that Powder Blue tangs are not easy to keep. My first one died when I was overseas. My 2nd one just died on Christmas eve. It is very hard to fatten up PBTs and yes, very ich-prone as well. Therefore, I don't even dare try keeping Powder Brown or Powder Black as well.
SRC Member chrislwp Posted December 30, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted December 30, 2005 Not really. my PBT is like a commando.. Surviving through so many times of ich due to new fish, ammonia spike, hunger for weeks when I bought it from a reefer whereby it's as thin as paper.
