do you mean you want to increase the pH? Can get a pH buffer additive to take your pH up to 8.3......Aquapharm, Seachem(?), have products if you don't mind adding chemicals into the water

Real reefs don't have glass bottoms....(...think about it)

Apologies for my unclear question. Actually I am facing a problem with rising pH. I don't dose kalk that much and I don't use buffer at all.

It is just a little puzzling to me because my pH has been constantly rising over the pass few weeks. Just want to know what may be causing the increase.

ammonia is alkaline, so that might be the cause of the rise in pH. Dose a good buffer if u wanna keep the pH stable. please note that buffers do not necessarily alter pH, it just keeps it stable.

i can explain why pH drops, but not why it rises except what i mentioned. anybody can shed some light on sea water chemistry?
