Do urchins eat macroalgae?

Hi guys, just want to know whether urchins will eat macroalgae cause I am thinking of getting one for my sump to remove the coralline

what I observe is that they will eat most of the algea ... that grows on the rocks or any surface.. I think it's because the mouth is at the bottom. :huh:

If your macroalgea is floating around, I think it's safe right? The spine will push the algea aside before it can consume it. :angel:

Had the long spine urchin to ... super rock cleaner!

I gave up the idea

The urchin would make refugium maintenance troublesome
