It's common to buy a Naso Tang that is not feeding, and training it to take food is even harder if there are other greedy tangs in your tank..

Now, methods to try..

1. Buy macroaglae for it to gaze on (red bamboo, grapes aglae)

2. Try Live Brine Shrimp

3. Henry's Food (From Marine Life LFS)

These are the few methods of the many methods use to entice a tang to eat.. This topic has been discussed alot before.. try to do a search..

Hope this helps..

mee siam  hmm... maybe too spicy, try to cut down on the chilli c how....

tangs r greedy fish, nt 2 worry too much. Since it already started to nib on the reb bamboo, try flooding ur tank with frozen brine & mysis, it should start to feed soon.

yup thats a good sign

juz cont. feeding as per normal

my observations r that , my fishes always go for the formula 1,2 pellets aft they started nipping off the red bamboo

most prob they will take another few days , go stock on some red bamboo for now

IMO u shd qt the fish 1st make sure that it has no ich/wadever

b4 introducing it in the main tank can oso make sure its eating

worst is, its dang hard to catch them out of yr tank !!

sorry guys but abit off topic , :off:

i realise that some of the Naso tangs are prone to having "sunken-in stomach"

can any1 share abt this ???

:thanks:

It is because of their high metabolism rate that they are able to lose their pot belly within a day or two without feeding.. Unless your fish is lazy and greedy..

So just feed your Naso more often.. But watch out for more bioload too..

My 7 inch Naso tang have been with me for eleven days.

No signs of stress despite eating very little. Feeds on seaweed and mysis shrimps.

If Naso (both elegans and literatus) is feeding but little and observation on a day to day basis reveals sunken-in belly or thins out in the body, rest assured it will take a big stroke of luck to ensure survival.

Even though it is feeding at the lfs, it may have problems in your aquarium...even more so when there are other fishes which may bully it.
