Sump - It is a water reservoir to increase the total volume of water and can be put to different functions such as a refugium or a place to put all your equipments

IOS - If I'm not wrong, it means internal overflow system and the overflow box is used to bring water down to the sump.

Canister - These only provide mechanical filtration and is not recommended to be the sole filtration to use as the trapped detritus will decompose and add nutrient into your tank

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

If you are practically shifting most stuffs from old tank to new tank, especially the water, LR, sand, and those filter media like bioballs etc,

practically you dont need to cycle the water.

As the results of cycling are the breed of some intended bacteria are taking homes onto these stuff, especially those hard things (rock, sand, media)

But I would suggest you perform a constant water test for at least 2 - 3 times in 1 week in the new tank for ensure no spikes in ammonia and nitrite. Play safe, and take this to sharpen your experiences with test kits.

Thks.

I'm actually using some rocks(dry) bought from LFS with some LR. Will the rocks becomes LR after sometime in the tank?

They "eventually" will. But the problem is we dont know how long and when. And generally we believe it will take "damn long" time.

So, in short, the more LR you have, the more easy live things (LR) will colony over dead spots (DR).
