Lighting Problem

Hello, I am new to reefing. Recently I have converted my 1.5x1x1 feet tank into a marine tank. Got myself a liberty 200 filter and recently a primz hangon skimmer. Bought around 5kg of LR from jalan kayu also.

Now i have lighting problem. I cannnot find a good 1.5 feet light...Any place or where to buy a good lightset for 1.5feet. 2 feet will be too big.

I intend to setup with LS, LR and some corals.

Hi bro, welcome to reefing...a hobby tat requires lots of $$ n time

i dun tink there are any powerful 1.5ft lights ard...

e best option will be a PL lights

or u may wan 2 consider using an oversized 2ft T5 HO for ur tank

tink it will be more efficient and cost effective n ur corals will be happier

may look a bit weird... but if its in a nice casing, should be ok

for PL, u may wan 2 try reborn, or petmart....

for T5 diy, look for Dr evil under DE lightings in e forum

it is very difficult to get really good light for tank less than 2 feet .

PL will be the best case . 2 X 11 watts or higher will be better.

can try petmart... even sam pet aquarium carry them i think... at parkway there.

same problem here.... any better lightings for 1.5ft tank besides PL tubes..?

the best i can find is 40watts..

higher watts == better lights..?

then how abt intensity..?

then how abt having 2 x 24watts PL approximately == 1 x 40watts PL...?

such that i can cascade more tubes of lower voltage to obtain heigher n better lightings..?

pls advise.. cos my current 1 x 24 watts PL dont seems to be providing enough lightings for my nano..

i think dont hape 40w PL.. only got 39w PL.. if u dont mind the 2ft T5 is too long..den jst use it.

Guys;

Your problem may be solve if you just go to hardware store and buy the 1 ft T5. The problem is they are for home application. So no color selection, i.e daylight ~6500K I think. Bright nonetheless. Can use 2 if you like.

I gave up on finding 1.5ft light long ago.

Bought 2ft light instead.

I found a 1.5feet light set. It is JEBO brand.

Am selling it, anyone interested? The light tube is blue and white colour.

Selling as my bro-in-law gave me a 2 feet lightset.

Naz, the 1ft T5 you mention is of how many watts? I'm presently setting up a 1 feet tank and i can only locate 13 watts PL for the tank. I think there is still 18watt Pl for 1 feet. Anyone know where to locate one?

Btw Henry have a PL 24watt. But it slightly more than 1 feet. Should be suitable for a 1.5 feet tank. But i think there's only a few in stock. Call him before you go down.

Okay okay, I dun know the power, I saw it in China and the hardware shop at my place in Toa Payoh. I can check on Saturday if you really interested to know.

Anyway, I was still trying to crack my brain for my pico tank that is in planning. My plan is not to start if I can't find a suitable lights. Mission near impossible esp in S'pore.

Anyway, I went to reborn, forget abt >1ft PL, they dun have. I check already.
