Change from No-Sand-Bed to Deep-Sand-Bed?

Anyone got any idea how to change my 2-yr old 2ft tank (with LR and marine fishes) from currently no-sand-bed to incorporate deep-sand-bed?

Can't just pour in the sand like that, right? Don't wish to re-cycle my tank bio-system again :( and I have my precious 2-inch blue-tang that stays with me for more than 1 yr.

Any bright idea?

Have you read up on how to maintain a DSB yet?

Some proper planning will do the job but not easy. The last time I 100% change the grade 3 to grade 0, I remove all LS/LR for 1 weeks and let the water settle.

Parameters will go off, even you get Live sand from LFS, but how bad I dun really know. 2 ft is not really a big tank, so removing the LS/LR will be a good idea. Otherwise you like the risk, then you just pour in loh...

u will be going in the opposite direction which most senior reefers have gone.. most of them discarded their DSB for bare bottoms as new findings have suggested that a DSB while nitrate reducting might be a huge cache for phosphates due to detrius build up...

As such they have started to advocate bare bottom tanks in which detrius cannot build up assuming ur circulation is good enough... all nitrate reduction will be done via skimmer/sump...

You have say it yourself.

Key to the whole issue here with DSB and BB is GOOD CIRCULATION.
