Extreme polyp extension from birdnest

Hi guys, these few days, I had noticed that my yellow birdnest had extreme polyp extension, somewhat similar to those of a sarcophyton if you can imagine.

In this picture, you can see that the polyp extension is so extreme that when the polps sway to the current, the little cavities in the skeleton structure can be seen (of course there's still tissue there, only that it is translucent)

What can be the cause of this? Could it be the dosage of AA or other factors?

errrr.....i think for this typw of birdnest quite poly extension tends to be more then the pink type.....mine and as few other bros also have their 'swaying' with the current....

tineng: Saw Joe's one had a lot of polyp extension but mine was like drooping down when there's no current. Maybe it's hungry or something

don't quite get what you mean....if no current of course the polys are drooping down what???!!!!!

Anyway, when i first go a frag from joe it was also drooping down, but the poly start 'swaying' quite soon after (a few days later).....brought a similar peice later and same behaivour, so i seriously, i think its just normal behaviour for this speices of birdnest.....rather then any specific things that you did....

AA definitely helps in polyp extension...

Phew... I'm relieved to hear that it is normal

Thought the polyps are about to bail or something

And I've also seen better polyp extension from my other SPS after dosing AA

Dun worry bro... if you find them too long, get a surgical scissors and snip them off!

AA = amino acid.

Even fish food which release certain chemicals can cause them to extend polyps. Just like how cyclopeeze entices sun corals to open up.

Mine seems to stretch out throughout the day

Maybe it's stimulated by my high ORP and iodine dosage

That polyp extension is normal for that specie and they are fast grower.

talk untill machiam all the AAs and other additives are like dope for SPS...

take already... high..... then anyhow extend.....
