water temp for corals

hey ...am new to this hobby ...so really need advice ...is it necessary for LPS corals and those hardy mushrooms or brain corals to be in an environment below 30 degrees? dont have a chiller with me ...but have the urge to keep these corals ....anyone out there that can help ? thanks people....

Yup, they need waters below 30 degress to be thriving and healthy. 30 degrees still might be possible to keep SOME LPS but very risky. Get it down to 28-29 and both you and the corals will be very much happier and stress-free. HTH

hmm...how much can cooling fans bring down the temperate of water ah ?

-the environment your tank is in...

-types of light u using..

-number of pumps u using...

U put in cooling fans and the evaporation rate will go up and there goes your stability if u dunt have an auto top-up device. Generaly cooling fans can bring down by 1 degree or so.

Think if you want to keep those corals then should seriously consider getting a chiller..

My water temp is now 26 to 27deg and my corals love it.

best is 25. But very pain on wallet. so about 27-28 should be ok.

Have to depend on wat light u using.If MH, u definitely need a chiller.

mine using just one AC fan, able to maintain my tank temp at about 27-29. depends on weather.

i'm using 4 x t5HO over a 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 tank.

For me, I don't use MH (PL & T5 only) with fan and use reverse daylight - turn on light at night when temp is generally lower. Top up water every other day. Cheap and good.
