Can I start SPS collection?

Hi,

I have been long waited for almost 2 years to start my SPS collection due to their beauty. Currently, my tank seem to be on right track.

Based on this info below, anyone out there kindly advise me whether can I start my SPS collection? Cause I have failed 2 times due to water conditions. As a result, here am I here to seek some experience people to share whether can I start my SPS collection

Tank: 4ft x 1.5ft x 2ft

Light: 2units of 150W with 4units of 27W blue

Temperature: at 27 degree with chiller

Denitrater: DIY coil to control my NO3.

Water current: using 1 unit x Tunze 6060 blowing 18hrs against my 3600litre/hr outlet.

Water condition:

1. CA: 480 to 500

2. Mg: 1300

3. KH: 8-9

4. NO3: 1 to 2 (never reach 0)

5. Ca reactor: using ARM media

6. PO4: 0 - running Rowaphos

you may wanna upgrade yr lights to 250W + create more flow using tunzes, the rest look fine to me.

Yes. your water parameters look fine. Only need to have at least 250W. and your flow may not be enough. You also need to have regular water change. and carbon.

Perfect advise, guys. More light & more flow An important key ingredient to keeping SPS is maintaining all parameters within a narrow range, as swings in these will result in eventual tissue recession. Bob

Thank you so much for yours kind advise. Will increase the current. As for the lighting, it will take sometime to change it.

So anyone here who have additional SPS to spare me?

dun worry too much about lighting yet.....build up your confident by going for the easier peice first....i have friend who have very establish LPS tanks, running 150w lights and weak flow getting intensense coloration on some the easier peiece.....get your fingers wet first la....

if you do mind my odd timing, i can pass you some frags to try out...

actually i wanted to go into sps too.. but i dare not buy those colored sps yet coz too expensive, so i tried out some brown frags...

just wanted to ask if brown frags is a good indiction that if it colors up then i can go ahead with sps??
