MANgrove Plants for your Refuge

thanks Jem and muar chee

I did searched for the postings but most were inconclusive, or the topics were changed to something else, without anyone actually sharing if they had set up one. It seems that mangrove refuge is really not a good idea then.

no problem...

unless u have alot of space.... otherwise mangrove is a no-go....

below is a pic of a mangrove taken in Palau Aquarium... they are running half their pond on mangrove.... their pond is like at least a good 6 metres wide...

so.... u think u wanna run mangrove???

The main reason why people plant mangroves is not for its nutrient export capabilities (which I doubt to be substantial) but for its ablity to provide your tank with an almost inexhaustable supply of micoorganisms.

Unless you have a sump the size of a pond and run 400w MHs on them, they would definately lose out to macroalgae ;)
