I use superglue for SPS frags and epoxy for LPS. If the SPS needs a base then mould one out with epoxy then superglue it on to the rocks. Epoxy does not 'stick' in water.

Superglueing frags must be done out of water. Pat dry the contact points with tissue paper then apply glue generously. Leave to set for about 5 minutes. If you dip fresh glue in the tank, it will float away when it goes through the surface of the water.

Sponges should never be taken out of the water.

SPS can take a high level of abuse. Robe gave be a piece of seriatopora which I took out of the water to glue for 5 minutes, placed it back into the tank but it was blown away from the rock by the water current, so I took it out again to glue it and waiting another 5 minutes for the glue to set. An hour later it was broken off again, so I decided to use epoxy and superglue this time. I did it all up, left it next to the sink to set and I went off to watch TV. I forgot all about it and only remembered half an hour later! :o It was covered with slime when I placed it pack into the tank. That piece had great polyp expansion a few hours later. That's how tough they are. All along I was handling the frag with my grubby fingers without gloves. :P

LPS which are fleshier than SPS should be more tolerant to drying as long as it is not under the sun or baking hot.

Not the whole piece of LR, just a small piece that I have lying around for mounting frags.
