today went to LPS shop and was confirm that we can actually bring LPS with water not more than 5kg. :yeah:

But not for hard corals though.... The authorithy does not allow of bringing in Hard corals <_< The shop owner also says that he got the confirmation from AVA dept itself. So I guess many ppl would actually try to bring in when overseas.:D

A person, himself can be his own Lawyer, but he can never be his own Judge ........

yep lps is hard coral lah. I think read in the thread last week only soft corals allowed within the 5 kg limit inclusive of water. Personally think too much trouble. Unless the piece is super rare or not available frm lfs, maybe easier to just buy frm the lfs

Next year thought of going to Palau Redang - been there once last year. That's was before I got into marine fishes.

When I was there, saw a lot of sea cucumber, sea urchins, etc etc. All on the sea bed - which is about 1.5 metres down.

Can we just catch some and then bring them back?

What are hermit crabs? It is okay to bring them back?

If yes, then the "clean-up crew" is free - just for for a nice holiday and "import" back the cleanup crew.

just a thought . . . .

Dear Mr Chua

Please refer to your email dated 11 October 2005, requesting to

import corals from Australia.

2 Hard corals are protected under the Convention on International Trade

in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). To import hard

corals, you are to first obtain a CITES export permit from the CITES

Management Authority of Australia, before applying for a CITES import

permit from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore.

Please note that both the CITES import and export permit are required

before you import the hard corals. You may wish to know that there is a

traveller's limit of not more than 5 pieces of hard corals in not more than

5 kg of total weight (inclusive of water) per traveller, for the import of

hard corals. If you are importing soft corals, no CITES permits are

required. However, the traveller's limit would still apply.

3 Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further

queries. Thank you and best regards.
