What type of tank is better?

If you are on tight budget, then go for a 2ft preferably with sump so that can have better water quality.

If you can afford cash and space and time, go for as big as you can - 3ft or 4ft.

i agree with flyingcarpet.

With regard to cover, make sure it can house the lighting you plan to have and some ventilation. for cabinet, if you have a particular skimmer in mind, maybe you want to get a cabinet that can fit it .. otherwise u cna also choose a skimmer to fit your cabinet i guess.

for main tank a height and bredth of 1.5' of more will give u some sense of depth space to landscape. also gd idea to have a little thicker glass too as you may be leaning some heavy rocks on it and may knock them around while landscaping.

bro dleecool,

Dun scare off potential fellow reefers leh

Realised u always doing this whenever someone has enquires to setting up a marine aquarium.

I guess if u really manage ur money well, maybe it won't amount to this much?

Just a comment, dun take offence :D

I'm not scaring anybody here!!! :P Just want to let new reefers mentally prepared as I have seen so many reefers here quit due to many reasons, but mainly is financial. :)

This is an expensive hobby, as I had been nagging by my wife for spending so much money and times into this hobby!!!! B)

Hi, may I know what kind of tank is ideal for marine set up? Those bare tanks or bare with sump or internal overflow types.

I'm looking at 3 or 4 feet tank.

Thanks in advance.

Hi bro Villian,

welcome to the club.... There are many ways of designing a tank. wat many reefers here got for their tank is, internal overflow with sump tank in the cabinet.. ( these type of tank is common)

There are also reefers here with tanks that got the overflow box attached to the tank and some are using cannisters instead of sump tank....

As for the size? I have always contemplate whether to go for 3 ft or 4 ft.... After finding from many reefers, decided to go for 4 ft.. One main reaons is tat got more space to play with.... and definitely must also have more $$$$ to burn. :pinch::sick: U must prepare for the spending.... :P
