hi guys, im going for a simple fowlr setup.

i have got:

tank 2 X 1 X 1.5ft (check)

weipro 2011 skimmer (check)

2ft PL 55W b/w light set (check)

10kg top layer sand C3 (check)

10kg bottom layer sand C0

2000l/hr pump

liverocks

livestock

sea salt

1) need advise on which brand of pump is suitable for the weipro 2011.

2) does weipro 2011 need 2000l/hr for it to achieve efficiency?

the sticker on the skimmer says 300l/hr. but heard pple recommend 2000l/hr.wont that be overkill?

3) i bought the hose to connect the skimmer to the pump. will the size of hose suits the pump as well? (quite a silly question, but this is one of the more headache one for me)

4) how many kg of rocks should i buy

5) does the brand of the salt makes a difference?

6) can i try coral with 2ft 55W PL b/w light?

7) where should i place the pump? stick on the glass wall at mid height? or near to sandbed?

8) if i place the pump towards the upper portion of the tank, will that make any difference to the current of the tank? as i do not have any wavemaker, etc.

9) total 20kg of sand will be how many inches for the sandbed?

:)

depend on budget

Should be enough

3) i bought the hose to connect the skimmer to the pump. will the size of hose suits the pump as well? (quite a silly question, but this is one of the more headache one for me)

If to big use cable tie and if to small dip the end of the hose with hot water, try to squize it in

4) how many kg of rocks should i buy

as many as possible because its your main filtration

5) does the brand of the salt makes a difference?

yes

6) can i try coral with 2ft 55W PL b/w light?

Yes but better to use T5

7) where should i place the pump? stick on the glass wall at mid height? or near to sandbed?

It does'nt matter as long it's strong enough for good water circulation

8) if i place the pump towards the upper portion of the tank, will that make any difference to the current of the tank? as i do not have any wavemaker, etc.

Good water circulation is not to let any waste sit on the sand bed or on the rocks

9) total 20kg of sand will be how many inches for the sandbed?

not to sure

Hope answered your question expert pls advise if I'm wrong :peace:

Think its gona be alittle too much. Hopefully, someone using it can advsie.

u can get those pvc connector that have 2 different size at each end.

4) how many kg of rocks should i buy

As many as possible and leaving enough swimming space for ur fish.

5) does the brand of the salt makes a difference?

Personally, no but many may disagree. :P

6) can i try coral with 2ft 55W PL b/w light?

Soft coral will be fine.

7) where should i place the pump? stick on the glass wall at mid height? or near to sandbed?

If u are refering to the skimmer pump, as near to the surface as possbile. Mid way will be fine also.

8) if i place the pump towards the upper portion of the tank, will that make any difference to the current of the tank? as i do not have any wavemaker, etc.

For wave maker, if u dun have surface skimmer, try pointing the pump to the surface.

9) total 20kg of sand will be how many inches for the sandbed?

For DSB, u need at least 4".
