Star Polyps Losing Colour

Hi Bros,

I have a Bali Star Polyps for three months and I realised that the luminuos green colour is slowly fading away and turning white. Can anything be done to restore the colour ? can the intensity of the light affects the colouration ? Thanks !!

oh dear! same thing happen here!!! I am running on 2 PL 2 Feet light! run mostly on blue light!!

Have the same experience...

Nonetheless, after replacing old tubes & shifted the polyps to a more intense area, colour is slowy coming back... (not as white as before)

Star polyps does not require high intensity lighting,

moderate lighting eg.mushrooms is already good

enough. Your tank might also be running low on iodide

or other elements.

hmmm.. iodine.....hmmm...maybe hor. Can try this weekend and see whether can recover or not. Any other additive would you recommend ?

For info, I am running two 10k T5 - HO and one Actinic NO Tube.

for iodine, only dose 1 drop daily.If u missed a dose do not double-dose or u will over-dose . "less is more, more is less" too much iodine is toxic. IMO, the better brand is tropic marine iodine , 1 bottle $20 but last quite long due to the fact tat only 1 drop is used each time.

Sally Jo of GARF recommends the addition of Seachem Reef Plus.. Her tank is over -grown with softies, and sps.
