Ozone generators

Not sure if many reefers here actually use ozone generators. Anyway is there any brand that is value for $ besides Red Sea? I don't really trust the brand Red Sea anymore after using their salts and seeing their skimmers.

Always something more important than fish.

the smell seems to come frm my skimmer not the unit itself

loster u usin a hailea too ?

ya... i am using hailea now. i hardly smell anything at all... at first i thought that the ozonizer is not working. but when i see my rebox goes up after sometime, so i am certain that the ozonizer was working well :P

sterilization of ozone is more effective than UV. It will remove odors & colors, the water will become crystal clear ;) It will improve the clarity of your tank water tremendously :)

hi,,, according to all the post here,, i tink buy hailea ozonier will be good to have for the tank,,,, any idea the cost and where is cheaper to get???? :thanks:

loster i'm using the 810 model

no control knob to tune the ozone output :(

shd have gotten the 800 one instead ..... haiz~ :nuke:

wad if we breath in these ozone how bad an effect it has on us .

lung damage or smttink ?

the price is very affordable for the ozonizer (abt USD 20 for the 800 )

got the price frm china side (i have a frd there)

Aquatic is bringing in some of the sets

is the hailea O3 output enough to connect at skimmer?? i understand frm the manufacture it gives out onli 3.5l/min.....not sure mine enough or not cause im using mazzie type....

in my case if i were to conect to mazzie.....means i gotto run it continously right?? cause theres no another way to feed the air to mazzie....

read somewhere some1 say connect it air stone, but the fine bubbles will rise up n WILL it cause any hazard esp to my family n enviroments esp...??

hi yus75

yesh the hailea output is nuff for the skimmer.

even wif the ozone not running , the air intake of my skimmer is able to draw air frm the unit. some of them comes with a airpump even wif the unit not running

the airpump still pumps

for more effective use on the ozone its better to hook it up to the skimmer

ozone is a pungent gas smells really bad .

remember to use activated carbon

i don't use airpump. i "tee" join the air-tube. one from the ozonizer to my skimmer and one from the air outside my cabinet to my skimmer. so, the skimmer still drew air enough air :)

hi,,, wat you mean when you say ur redox goes up??? and how to detremine the ozonier has create positive impact to the tank??? :erm:

the redox reading comes from the ORP controller. so for my tank size, i only need to use 50mg/hr and it takes sometime for the reading to goes up. it is safe. my water is clear and my sps, lps and fishes are doing well. in fact, if i can maintain my water clean, my redox reading will stay above value and the controller hardly activate my ozonizer. only when i do water change and doing so work in my tank water :P

my ozonier hardly activiate for about few weeks and my tank water still very clear and skimmer still skimming a lot :D

read somewhere that ozonier actually kills our bacteria in our tank??? isnt that harmful for our tank since we take so long to cultivate our bacteria in both our sump and the LR/sand. :eyeblur:

the life span of the O3 is very short (less than 1/2 mins). the purpose of the carbon place near the inlet of your return pump is not to let the O3 enter into your display tank. so, i place my carbon at the outlet of my skimmer. even if some 03 manage to bypass the carbon, by the time it enter into my display tank, it dies off.

so, with correct usage, don't have to worry of the ozone pose danger to your LS and coral. and you need to know the right among of use for your tank size :)

the main function of ozone for the reef tank is to:

quickly eliminate pathogane germs and dissolve harmful chemical ingredient as well as organic matters in the water. it also helps to make your tank water very clear so that more light can reach to the corals. there are many threads and discussion on this topic in RC. not much discussion here. so u may want to take a look and read more at RC forum :)
