Not only recover from shock and tissue necrosis, you have to nurse it to health by feeding it so that it hopfully might regain it's zooxathellae population.

Didn't you notice that it was bleached when you bought it?

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

No offence but you are being irresponsible by buying a bleached coral.

Corals must not be bought judging from its looks but by its health

What is the point of spending money buying something which will perish in a couple of weeks?

SRC is to promote responsible reefkeeping so I hope you learn from this lesson and not make the same mistake again :peace:

The reason why I said you were irresponsible is that by buying bleached specimens, you generate a demand for them and also actually encourage store owners to purposely bleach corals and selling them as "whte" specimens.

When it is bleached (almost toally in your case), it does not have zooxathellae in its tissues and cannot benefit from the byproducts of photosynthesis by them.

Unless it accepts food from you, death is inevitable ;)

Hope you don't take offence on my comment but I am only trying to tell you not to make this mistake again. I am only acting on part of SRC's purpose to promote responsible reefkeeping so I really hope you do learn something

Anyway, I like your scaping

Point noted. Just to clarify it is all white specimen is bleached? Is there no natural white speicmen?

If you are talking about SPS and softies, yes, all white specimens are bleached.

This is because the zooxathellae in their tissue are brown so the most basic colour you get is brown. There are no such thing as white corals in nature ;)

Good to hear that you get the message. Hope you reef responsibly
