SRC Member Reefaholic Posted October 1, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 1, 2005 I do not know which. But i know which one must be avoided. I have used Aquaz and Aquamedic. Aquaz seems like never breakdown before even you use for 1 yr or so. But Aquamedic 10,000k. Bought 8 within 2 mths all blown. And i discover the end of the tube are all black. I have no problem with Aquamedic Blue. I am surprised that German made tubes are that poor. I sworn never to use Aquamedic Tube.
SRC Member danano Posted October 1, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted October 1, 2005 ATI bulbs are tried, tested and proven. I've been using 8x 54w ATI T5s for almost 18 months and they are still going strong. Importantly, my SPS colours are still holding well. I also have another 6x 24w ATI T5s that I have been using for over 2 years and so far so good. SPS and LPS are doing fine.

FuEl
I second ATI tubes. There is a difference between the overall lifespan of the tube and the efficient lifespan of the tube. If a fluorescent tube used in an ordinary setting lasts 2-3 years does this mean it is good? Different brands can last for similar periods in this respect if similar ballasts/lighting hours are applied. In all lighting..be it FL, T5s or MH spectrum shift and probably intensity loss is something that would occur over time. This should be the mindset needed to judge bulbs on...not the overall lifespan. I would rather have a good tube last for 6 months, as compared to a similar tube which lasts 1 year plus in which it was only operating at optimum efficiency for maybe 3-4 months.
